我看见那些曾经的足迹

印在沙滩的水里

浪，过来。又过去

卷走了它们。无声无息

它们永逝了。在汹涌而起的波涛里

我模糊了回看的视野

从前，我在哪里？在哪里

那茫茫的大地上，空无一迹

那些伸向海水的印迹

已成过去。已成仅在记忆中的点滴

宛如   我从未去过

宛如   一切都未曾在这里

是这样的思绪

如蓝色的水花。在海滩上破碎

让我看见过去，如那思维里难解的游戏

此刻。只有此刻。才真实而清晰

那些印象。匆匆来，又匆匆去

在永恒的掌中，白驹过隙

那每一束浪，如有生的每一日

冲来新的。又卷走逝去的一切

Once, walking on the beach, I found
The prints I'd left upon the ground
were swept away by passing waves
Just swept away, without a sound.

They'd vanished in the surging tide
And, looking back, I found no guide
to show me where I'd been before
The land lay empty, open, wide.

The prints that slipped into the sea
Were nothing but a memory
It was as if I'd never been
And all that was, was yet to be.

And with that thought, a wave of blue
Broken on the shore, and then I knew
The past is played by mental whim
And now ---- and only now ---- is true.

Impressions come and go so fast
And, in the face of time, can't last
Each breaking wave---- each breaking day----
Sweeps in the new, sweeps out the past.
